March with Variations in A-flat for Piano and Orchestra, Biamonti 292 (1802)

This projected piece is found in the Kessler sketchbook of late 1801-1802 at folio 15v. Although entitled as a march with variations by Beethoven, only the march is sketched, in a melody line apparently for piano. The end of the second section features a phrase marked "tutto l'orchestre," or "all the orchestra." A brief phrase, apparently the intended ending, appears elsewhere on the page. Following are additional sketches that take the key from A-flat to A major. We also present Willem's completion and orchestration of the theme.

Biamonti: 292
