BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Monday, April 1, 1822 (approximately)

About now Beethoven drops off the revised second movement of the piano sonata #32, op.111 to his copyist, Wenzel Rampl. He will mail the completed copy to Schlesinger in Berlin on about April 10. Since the entire sonata #31 was copied in around two weeks’ time, I estimate that copying this one (but rather complicated) movement should take around a week to a week and a half, depending on how busy Rampl is with other work.
