BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Monday, December 10, 1821 (approximately)

About this time, Beethoven receives the proofs for the 25 Scottish Songs, op.108, from publisher Adolph Martin Schlesinger in Berlin. Beethoven begins making arrangements for the English language lyrics to be proofread and to check the musical engraving. This task will occupy him on and off for the next two months.

Today’s Wiener Zeitung includes a large advertisement from S.A. Steiner & Co. for Beethoven’s new piano sonata in E major, op.109.
