BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Monday, November 25, 1822

S.A. Steiner & Co., not satisfied with advertising piano arrangements of all of Rossini’s operas last Saturday, today announces in the Wiener Zeitung at p.1084 the publication of Rossini’s Complete Operas arranged for Csakan. That was a woodwind instrument popular in early 19th-century Vienna, a sort of recorder/oboe in A-flat, sometimes referred to today as a “Romantic Recorder.”
