BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Monday, September 1, 1823
Nephew Karl departs Baden for Vienna via coach early in the morning to run errands for his Uncle related to the Missa Solemnis copies. Among these errands are checking in on the copyists, buying paper, and contacting the various embassies either to collect payment on the subscriptions or make excuses as to why the scores have not yet been received. Ludwig stays behind and takes the baths and works on the third movement of the Ninth Symphony. Karl returns very late at night, and is unable to pay the coachman.
