BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Thursday, October 27, 1825
In today’s issue of Der Sammler (Nr.129) at 516, there is a brief announcement of the public premiere of Beethoven’s string quartet op.132: “L. van Beethoven’s new Quartet in A minor will be performed on Sunday, November 6, 1825, in the Musikverein’s hall at the Sign of the Red Hedgehog, in a private Akademie organized by Herr Joseph Linke. Beethoven’s great Trio in B-flat major for piano, violin, and cello [op.97] will also be performed, with Herr Carl Maria von Bocklet playing the piano part. Tickets are available from the art dealership of H.H. Steiner & Co., in Paternostergäsichen at 3 florins W.W. each.” This announcement is essentially identical to that in the Theaterzeitung last Saturday, October 22.
Our next update will be October 30.
