BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Tuesday, December 11, 1821
In today’s Wiener Zeitung, Cappi & Diabelli repeats its advertisement of last Thursday for Beethoven’s piano sonata #30, op. 109. And of course, variations for piano on selections from Der Freischütz. Other selections offered by Cappi & Diabelli today include the Sonate Mélancolique, op.49 [1821] by Ignaz Moscheles (1794-1870), and a Piano Rondo on the Air of the Venetian Boatmen, also by Moscheles. Beethoven’s former student Carl Czerny is also represented with the Amusement pour le Carneval, op.15, with both a brilliant waltz and an easy version included.
