BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Tuesday, June 24, 1823 (approximately)

Nikolaus Johann van Beethoven

Brother Johann has taken seriously ill sometime in the last week or two, and is bedridden for at several weeks, and possibly more. Schindler will write to Beethoven on July 3 that he has been visiting him three or four times per day over the last few weeks [Johann lived next door to Ludwig’s apartment, which Schindler was housesitting]. More will be said about that letter and Schindler’s explosive accusations in July.
