BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Tuesday, October 15, 1822 (very approximately)

Beethoven writes a short orchestral piece in honor of Carl Friedrich Hensler (1761-1825), the director of the Josephstadt Theatre, where The Consecration of the House was premiered to great success. This congratulatory little work will be the Gratulationsmenuett, WoO 3, to be premiered on November 3, the eve of Hensler’s Name Day.
