BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Tuesday, October 17, 1820 (approximately)

Beethoven probably goes to Vienna to give the Archduke a composition lesson around this time. It is improbable that his assistant, Franz Oliva, could be back in Vienna from Leipzig already; more likely, Beethoven will see him on Saturday, October 21, when Beethoven next returns to the City from Mödling. As you will recall, Oliva is on business in Leipzig on behalf of his employer, Biedermann & Brother, a Vienna sheep’s wool wholesaler.
