BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Tuesday, October 19, 1824
Although Beethoven’s visitor Johann Andreas Stumpff had told Beethoven that he needed to leave Vienna by Sunday, October 17 at the latest, he probably leaves Vienna today instead due to some delay. Stumpff mentions that he had come to Vienna from Munich with Prussian Cavalry Captain von Kuroffsky-Eichen as his traveling companion; according to the Wiener Zeitung Departures column for October 21 at 1019, that captain leaves Vienna for Berlin today and it seems likely that Stumpff continued the journey with him.
