BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Tuesday, October 8, 1822
S.A. Steiner & Co. again repeats its preliminary announcement of the forthcoming publication of the March and Chorus op.114 from The Consecration of the House in various formats, in today’s Wiener Zeitung at page 928. This advertisement is notably the only one for music in the newspaper today. These repeated announcements suggest that there was significant demand for Beethoven’s partly-new composition The Consecration of the House. Tomorrow’s Wiener Zeitung will resume the normal deluge of ads for arrangements of Rossini’s operas.
