BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Wednesday, April 27, 1825
Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, and Handel’s Samson, in a new arrangement by Ignaz Franz von Mosel (1772-1844), are performed today at the Berlin Royal Opera House as part of a concert for the benefit of General Music Director Gaspare Spontini (1774-1851). The royal orchestra is conducted by Messrs. Spontini and Karl Möser. Allgemeine musikalische Zeitung (Nr.19) May 11, 1825 at 314.
Ludwig Rellstab departs Vienna temporarily for a few days as he travels to Pressburg. He will be back in early May to visit Beethoven once more before his trip ends and he returns to Berlin.
