BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Wednesday, December 13, 1820 (approximately)

At some point in December, but before the end of the year, Beethoven has had enough of his tiny, cramped apartment in the Josephstädterstrasse. Franz Oliva no doubt helps him in finding a new home as one of his last services before departing for Russia. Beethoven moves to the 2nd floor (3rd floor American) of the Grosses Haus der Augustiner, 244 Landstrasse (now 60 Hauptstrasse). Other than summer visits to the country, he will remain here until August, 1822, finally getting some much needed stability.
