BEETHOVEN 200 YEARS AGO TODAY: Wednesday, December 27, 1820

The Wiener Zeitung, which Beethoven read regularly, today (nr. 294) reports on its front page that the conferences previously held in Troppau are now being relocated to Laibach (today, Ljubljana). Accordingly, the Emperor was scheduled to depart Troppau on the 26th, and is expected to arrive back in Vienna tomorrow, December 28th. Archduke Rudolph had already departed on the 23rd, but no mention of that was made in the Wiener Zeitung. If Rudolph returned directly to Vienna, he probably is already back by now.
