2 part simple fugue in F, Hess 236 nr.7

Based on theme Nr.12 from Albrechtsberger's list. Nr.7 from Nottebohm's Chapter IV, p.82. Corrected by Albrechtsberger. The fugue dates from about 1794-95.

To indicate the pettiness of some of Albrechtsberger's rules here an example : in bars 23-25 Beethoven has the "boldness" to use the rhythm of a half note tied to an eighth, followed by three eighths :

This is forbidden in "Strengen Satz", and Albrechtsberger replaces them with 4 quarter notes :
