The 25 Scottish songs arranged by Beethoven as op. 108 are all scored for voice and piano trio (i.e., piano, violin and cello). However, since the violin parts were little used in Scotland, and there were many flautists, the publisher, George Thomson, set about adapting the violin accompaniments for flute. Thomson sent these flute parts to Beethoven to review, but Beethoven rewrote a good many of them, including the flute part to this song.

Opus: 108
