Seven Laendler in D for piano (1799) WoO 11
Seven Laendler in D, WoO 11.
This 1799 set of Austrian dances is one of a number of such sets commissioned for use at the Redoutensaal, the social hot spot of late 18th century Vienna. Sketches for this set of dances can be found among the variations WoO 77. The coda has a rustic drone effect, which Beethoven would later revisit in the Pastoral Sonata op. 28, which perhaps not coincidentally is also in the key of D.
WoO: 11
